Hello, My name is Dawn
I am a Community Organizer in San Diego, CA, an aspiring leader in higher education, and a graduate student.
Nice to meet you!
Welcome to my corner of the internet where I can share a little about my inspirations and curiosities! As a student of sociology, the eldest daughter of my family, and believer in education, I center a critical commitment to supporting people through their struggles within interlocking systems of oppression. My desire to learn is deeply rooted in my belief in the power that people can wield from collective learning. This has been inspired by the impactful demonstrations I have witnessed, particularly on college campuses.
I am eager to explore the intersections of institutional responsibility and student success, the effect of student activism on policy, and the implications of political agendas on campus communities and climate. My goal in studying and working in education is to identify and distribute the tools necessary for disrupting and dismantling oppressive systems.
In relation to my studies, you will find me organizing for human rights, democracy, and sovereignty of the Filipino people with Malaya Movement.
When I am not studying or organizing, you may find me along the water with a green tea in hand, spending time with my cat, or making a collage.
